I need to purchase a medium-capacity hard drive, and I've narrowed my choices to the Hitachi T7K250 and Samsung SP2004C. It will be a single drive (for now at least, so no RAID). I'm looking for both performance (Hitachi's strong point) and quietness (Samsung's strong point). There aren't too many reviews of either, so I was wondering what people have to say about them. I'm leaning toward Hitachi for better access times, but will I notice any real-world difference between the two for loading Windows and applications? How about for noise (idle and seek)? Thank you.
