Hey guys,

I'm doing some upgrades to my wifes laptop.

She currently has a Core Solo T1400 processor in her PC. I've been shopping around and have the option between a T5500 for $30 or a T7400 for ~60-70.

She is mostly a flash game player, so fairly processor heavy.

Will the difference be noticeable in the real world? From my reading I'm gathering maybe a ~7-15% difference, but thought I'd take some input here.

Thanks. :)

Brainonska511, I also want to thank you for that excellent link. I'll have to buy upwards of three laptops in the next 6-12 months and the link is extremely helpful.

Yeah. They also have a mobile graphics benchmark list. Both are very helpful because of all the confusing model names/numbers on the market.

I wish it came up higher in the Google search rankings, looking for comparisons I was just..??

I get the general picture, but when it comes to saving money I want the best bang for my buck.

I know this is an old thread, but it helped me in deciding whether or not to upgrade my T5500 to a T7400 or not. Went ahead with it and to anybody else thinking of doing this, it's great!!! Believe it or not, the thing runs cooler and has more battery life.

My Gateway M285(love this laptop/tablet convertible) would run the fans more than it would sit without them when I was casually writing notes in class. Now it doesn't really turn the fans on all that much anymore. Under full load the fans never get to 100% either when they used to as a requirement during ripping with the T5500.

Now while writing neither CPU would go above its minimum of 1GHz, but I'm guessing the 2.16GHz processor runs cooler and easier to that floor than the 1.6GHz did resulting in the cooler running system and about 30-45 minutes extra battery time.
