worried about Lenovo chinese stuff for first time.
Yet, this unit is well made and performs very good.
fan speed or heating stuff dont cause me a problem.
it's not that bad problem(it's even not a problem for me : ) )
anyone buys laptop, buy T43.
for me...
T43>sonyT250>Toshiba M30 > Averatec 1500(?)

But yet costs how much more than the Averatec 1500. You get what you pay for most of the time in the laptop world.

thinking about buying a T43 with teh follwing config:

1.7 GHz Pentium M
1 GB RAM
40 GB HDD
SXGA LCD (14" I think)
ATi X300

hopefully I can get it for a good price.

I recall seeing a T43 with that config at the local Micro Center in Denver here a few weeks ago for $1799. Its atleast a good way to try out the machine, even if the price is more than it would be if ordered direct.

I just got a t42p used here and it was advertised as being the 'last IBM-built' thinkpad.
nonsense. they were already being built by Lenovo, IBM just pulled out of the way of their business model.

(it's freaking amazing, by the way. everything I could want in a lappy)
congrats and enjoy!

"nonsense. they were already being built by Lenovo"

T43 owner. It's an "ok" laptop with some issues. Better than my dells in some aspects (weight/size) worse in others (keyboard, solid feel)

Lenovno never built IBM laptops before the buyout. The only thing lenovno built was some pretty cr@ptastic looking units. Some thinkpads where built by an asian competitor to lenovno called great wall.

But to some people all chinese are the same so whatever.....

I've got nothing against Dell (Latitudes anyway) but to say that the T43 is just an "ok" laptop and further that it is even surpassed in some areas by a Dell is absolutely absurd. IBM, Lenovo, whatever.. the Thinkpad T's are still the best laptops you can buy. The Latitudes come in a distant second.

wtf? are you trying to mean the poster may be racist because he/she mistakenly thought Lenovo was manufacturing IBMs laptops before the handover? "cuz they all look the same"?? stfu

As you can see, Trikster is an IBM/Lenovo hater... You can also tell by the way he spells Lenovo... (Lenovno)

I am a happy owner of Dell Latitude D610. Several of my colleagues use IBM Thinkpad. To me Thinkpad does have its advantages in design and quality. This is one of the reason that is costs higher than most of the business class laptop in the industry.

However cost is not the only reason I chose Dell. The one and only reason I chose Dell is because it allows customer to configure. Bluetooth moudle, wireless module, LCD resoultion, Combo/DVD+-RW etc. This is very good because customer get to "build" a laptop that match his requirement and budget.

lenovo bought IBM PC business is a fact, how they would handle is what we are waiting to see. Any conclusion at this moment would be too early.
