T40p external monitor

I've been playing with my new T40p and noticed that the image quality when using an external monitor connected to the VGA is poor. Using the same settings (resolution, scan rate, effects, etc.) my older Thinkpad produced a crystal clear rock-solid image. With the T40p, the image is fuzzy and slightly washed out.

Has anyone else tried external video on the VGA? How does it compare? Maybe I need to return my new Thinkpad.

I assume you mean external output to a monitor or LCD. I tried that before sometime ago and find the quality is ok, not superb but not too bad either. It, however, give a nice clear and not fuzzy picture, at least on my LCD. May be you need to try adjust your setting?
