T40: Is my 9 cell battery working right?

Can anyone tell me how to set up my t40(has 9 cell) so that when I go to battery mode
and while the battery charge icon says 100% that the remaining battery time indicator
will say 6 hrs plus? 5. hrs is the highest I have seen with minimal settings.

I have done these things and have not gotten laptop to show more than 5.5 hrs remaining.

1 - let the battery discharge down to 4% and then recharged(only one time)

2 - Set the power scheme for "high battery perfromance"

3 - Turned off all applications on my desktop including bluetooth an 802.11

Does anyone get better than 5 hours with normal use ie:

* Power scheme is "email and web surfing" (these applications are open)
* Wireless is on

The battery run time is only an estimate and will change dynamically depend on your usage. With report of 5hrs from the IBM app on a 9 cell battery, I would say it is normal. If you want to see the number higher, try use the "Super Power Saving" setting.

If you standby for about an hour, and then come out of it and look really quickly, it says something like 48:00. Dont know if that helps. Alternatively, you could take a screenshot and photochop it 🙂.

Click on the little IBM battery bar and go battery informtion. There, you can see real time wattage information. Turn stuff on and off and see how it varies. From experimentation, the screen on my A31 takes up 10W alone.

BTW: Once in a while, its good to let your battery run right down to 0 until it shuts itself off. It re-calibrates the battery for you.
