T40 $1299 + tax + shipping (customer returns) Straight from IBM

Wow... I was just about to post about getting in on this. I've been looking forever for a good deal on a T40 since they're so flippin expensive, and I check the IBM store on E*Bay every once and while and jumped on these as soon as I saw them. I ordered one last Sunday from there, got an email confirmation Monday morning, and tracking information later the same day. Very quick turnaround, and seems like there are real people on the other end of the emails.

I was worried about getting screwed by bad cosmetic flaws or worse -- dead pixels, but I was pleasantly surprised when I received the laptop today: perfect condition, looks BRAND new... not even smudges from being used before. The only way I could tell it was a refurb was a sticker on the bottom that said so.

This is one SWEET laptop. I traded my 600m for it, and I'm very glad to have done so. While the 600m was a fine laptop, this is a whole new level of mobile computing! While this particular model isn't the fastest available, it is more than what I need for my use at school. If you want more powerful options, they have the 1.5 and 1.6 GHz models available for a little more, but still under what you'd pay from IBM for a new computer.

I'm still fooling around with getting XP the way I like it, but I've had nothing but good impressions so far. I took some quick pics, if anyone's interested.

Hey, does your invoice say it's Refurbished/Used? If not, you can get the extended warranty from your creditcard.
