T1 for small business

Anyone out there have any experience with T1 lines(full, not fractional or burstable) for small businesses? I have some pricing information from a local company, but it seems rather expensive, so perhaps someone could post their experiences. Information like monthly fees, telco fees, installation costs, and equipment costs would be helpful.

What sixzed is the business? I knw t 1 are just plain expensive, maybe you can look into a business DSL line.

Well, I've been asked to look into the different technologies available: T1, DSL, Cable, Wireless, ISDN. I already have a good idea on the prices for everything except the T1... which, like you said, is probably going to be expensive. Anyone?

I got 5 T1s... you'll need a decent router ~ 1500, T1 CSU/DSU (800 if not included). Month T1 is around 1300. Installation around the same.

Some time they run special, and 999/month 999/install.

Avg time, depend on your building, from 2 month to 4 month wait time.

what type of uses will you have for your uplink? Depending on how bandwidth intensive you may want to consider burstable or shared t1's possibly even fractional. Also often times you can get saturated t1 access from some smaller isp's and pay well below the premium t1 costs obviously you will have deteriorated preformance however your uploads are usualy good enough to serv data, and the main drawback to using the saturated t1 of small local providers is the incresed latencies.

If you want preformance you have to pay for it the only reason you would need a t1 is if you plan to host any kind of moderatly busy server.

As i said, listing your intended use for the uplink will make it easier to get suggestions.

$800 - $1,500 is the range where I've seen most of the pricing fall. Expensive when compared to business DSL but don't forget the benefits of T1. T1s offer reliability and uptimes that DSL cannot match. A T1 is a public utility and there are regulations on uptime and guaranteed bandwidth. When something does happenm your local telephone company must have someone on site within a few hours. I've heard nightmare stories of businesses losing DSL for days with no help from the providers. Our office one lost a T1 line and Bell Atlantic/Verizon was on site with 1 hours troubleshooting the problem. Only extended outage (1 day) was when a stupid moron took a phone that was suppose to be directed to me and just went "yea do the work" which authorized a circuit upgrade during business hours.
