My friend wants to expand our business and we want to start doing t-shirt printing.... We have no idea what kind of equipment we need.
 
What kind of quality are you looking to print? Single color screen prints, full color screen prints?

My guess is either way you need something like a "screen-print machine" or something.
 
Even going with crappy used stuff you'd have to invest several thousand dollars. It all depends on how big you want to go with it. How many colors and what kind of volume?
