T-mobile's Blackberry Bold 9900 on AT&T?

Hey y'all, I got what is hopefully an easy question to ask:

Can my friend buy the t-mobile (or unlocked/un-activated) BB Bold 9900 (new one that just came out recently) and use it on AT&T?

He's already on AT&T and I thought that he could just stick in his SIM card and be more or less good to go.
I recall some the Nexus One was sold unlocked and AT&T customers could use it. But something about the Nexus S wasn't as friendly about it.

If it were unlocked, it would work - but AT&T and T-Mobile use different 3G bands, so he'd be mired in the world of EDGE.

You can import one from Canada rogers have the same bands as att. Howardforums is a place you can start looking for.
