A receipt received by email -i.e. my phone number was referenced for an in-store cash purchase. So discounting any identity-fraudy affect on my account, it may have been a mistake or an intentionally random number. Either way, I'm curious what it is.

I saw that thread but the OP's question (and thus mine) was never actually answered. I am not aware of a TMO selling unlock codes either, besides providing them after a $25 or $100 airtime purchase per basic or smartphone.

If you didn't actually purchase anything from T-Mobile lately, I think it's an unlock code someone purchased from a seller online. Searches now just pull up this thread, though. :D

Doh! But no, the receipt is from a TMO store.

It probably is just a refill card, then. Not sure if the "PIN" refers to an actual PIN number or is an acronym, but this article seems to indicate the prepaid (pay in advance) credit is associated with a PIN.

By jove, you've got it! I did not receive the usual post-refill SMS but a manual check reflects the credit. One would have thunk an in-store mistake would be immediately noticed and reversible.
