T Mobile unlimited cell phone data plans now include 2.5 GBs a free tethering instead of 500 MBs

Effectively a 10 dollar price drop if you tether

One of my main gripes about T-Mobile’s unlimited data plan is that it doesn’t include mobile hotspot. Now I understand, T-Mobile isn’t my ISP. In fact, I only tether when it’s an emergency. Like my ISP having an outage or something. However, I’d still like to be able to tether when needed without having to worry if I’m going over my tethering cap. 500MB of tethering is really not enough. You can blaze through that in like 5 minutes. Fortunately there’s great news for T-Mobile customers on the unlimited data plans. This includes prepaid as well.

You can now get 2.5GB of mobile hotspot, 4.5GB or 6.5GB. The prices have also dropped $10, while the 6.5GB option is brand new. Here’s the break down.

Unlimited data w/ 2.5GB of SMHS: $20/month
Unlimited data w/ 4.5GB of SMHS: $30/month
Unlimited data w/ 6.5GB of SMHS: $40/month
It’s great to see that they’ve added 2GB to the mobile hotspot for the same price as the current unlimited data plan. So this would be $50 for your unlimited talk and text plus $20 for your unlimited data. All that for $70 a month is not bad at all. Although I’m sure I’m not the only one that thinks us Unlimited data users should be able to just use our data. I mean it is unlimited for a reason, right?

Anyways, great news for T-Mobile customers. You can check out the screenshots below, which TmoNews got their hands on for more information. This is all started yesterday, so you’ll want to call up T-Mobile and be sure you get switched to the new plan. You should be able to do it online through My T-Mobile as well, if you’re interested.

How many of you on T-Mobile have the Unlimited plan and hate that you can’t just tether without having a separate cap for tethering or hotspot? I know I hate it. Let us know what you think about these new plans in the comments down below

When I had T-Mobile's $30 monthly plan (5.0 GB) I didn't pay to tether? Not with AT&T's mobile share plan that I have now, either. I thought those "hotspot taxes" were yesterday's news.

With T-Mobile unlimited data plans you get unlimited data on your phone (as well as minutes and messages). You can download 20GBs and not pay anything above your normal monthly rate even though you downloaded 20GBs. This plan cost $70 ($50+$20)

Under the old plan if you have unlimited data you also got 500 MBs of hot spot data for free. Your hot spot data is tracked separately from your phone data. Under the new plan for the same price you get 2500 MBs of hot spot data for free while keeping your unlimited.

------------------

Note if you chose the cheaper $50 or $60 (aka $50+$10) plans you can use the data on your phone or hot spot however you like it. You are paying for the MBs, use the MBs however you like.
