T-Mobile trying to get rid of FlexPay users?

I just got a text message on my phone.

for an upgrade to

flexibility with

It sounds like they are trying to incentivise me off of FlexPay. If I wanted a damn "plan phone" (with a damn 2-year agreement), I would have signed up for one of those originally.

I already got two calls a month or two ago from my local corporate T-Mobile store, telling me that "I now qualify for a plan". Whoopie.

Yeah. They're doing away with FlexPay and going to a deposit system.

Supposedly, you "qualify" to convert to a post-paid plan if you've paid your bill on-time for 6 straights months, but I've paid on-time every time for over a year and a half and hadn't gotten any text messages.

Strange. Sigh. I'm on FlexPay, not because I failed a credit check, but because I didn't want a contract. Looks like I'll have to convert to pre-paid, if they are forcing FlexPay users off of their FlexPay plan.

You'll likely be allowed to continue as long as you want, but at some point I'm sure you won't be able to change anything on your account without being migrated to the post-paid billing systems.

There is no disadvantage to being on a post paid account versus flexpay. You can remain with non-contract rate plans if you want. And in fact, there are advantages. It is cheaper (assuming you don't have easypay setup on your flex account) and it is easier to change rate plans/features on your account. Not to mention the customer service is A LOT better for post paid customers.
