Anyone here using one? I'm thinking about getting the Sidekick for wireless web access, 20 bucks extra a month isn't that bad. However, is there a less expensive way to get wireless web with some more flexability? I'd really like to get a PocketPC and get that online (through a bluetooth cellphone, or otherwise)..

what are my options, and what kind of flexability/features can I expect from the sidekick? I want a PDA so I can actually download stuff/listen to MP3s if I choose.... that's where I'm torn, it's tough getting everything I want :p

I have t-mobile b/w sidekick for almost ten months and love it. Web Acess isnt that bad but email and aim are the great feature to use. Some love it, some doesn't like it at all. Depend based on area where u re from becuase the reception is pretty weak.

If u want to learn more about it, check this website:

Text.

It will help u decide whether to buy it or not. I m gonna upgrade to color sidekick once my sidekick is dead.

Good luck...

Oh I forgot one thing, It's $29.99 unlimited data only. If you want to use voice. U have to pay for the voice service plus add 20 dollars for unlimited data service. You have to check it out on t-mobile website.

I have unlimited vision with Sprint with my cell phone (that's unlimited Internet). It's pretty fast. Not broadband, but faster than dial-up for me :) I was getting about 230k speed in my home when I hooked it up to my laptop. It'll come in handy when I go out of town on a road trip :)

I'm looking more for a full wireless web setup... I want to be able to visit the forums, and have a full QWERTY keyboard ;)

Do any providers offer a 20 dollar plan like T Mobile does with unlimited access?

this is the exact question Ive had for several weeks.

i have attwireless and their data plans frankly suck. slow speeds paying on a per MB basis. like $20 for 2megs. something ridiculous like that.
i have until early december before i can switch out.

i also would like to have a bluetooth phone with a data plan. that way its easy to hook up to laptop or pda and do web stuff. i looked at the integrated pda/phone combo's but most of them are mediocre pdas and horrible cell phones.

i coould get a pure data plan from tmobile and get the sidekick.

not sure what to do yet. i dont think i can do anything till my current contract runs out it seems.

There is no substitute for a true laptop if you want to do serious online things. I would recommend fetching an old P2 Vaio or something small like that, and getting a bluetooth enabled phone like the Nokia 3650. Stay away from PDAs, they suck for online content viewing (screen too small), it's really not that much better than a phone like the 3650.

If a laptop could fit in my pocket and go to class with me, that'd be awesome :) however, the next best thing down, and PDA /w bluetooth, seems to be the best choice for the money without going all out... I might not even have the option though, I'd have to A) buy a nice PDA /w bluetooth (300 at least) and B) upgrade my cellphone to something with bluetooth

I'm torn between getting out of this cheap, and getting more features like MP3 playback, etc...

You can add T-Mobile's unlimited wireless internet plan for $19.99 if you're currently on a voice plan with them for $29.99 or more. Otherwise the wireless internet on its own is $29.99.

You'll also need to get hold of a PC Card available on their site so you can surf wirelessly through your laptop.

There's a thread in Hot Deals now about Verizon giving free internet access away with plans/phones that support it, might want to check that out. It's tied to package minutes though I believe.

The sidekick is really cool, if t-mobile had better coverage I'd pick one up.

this is what i know about the speeds of data plans.

verizon + sprintpcs > tmobile + attwireless

attwireless has the suckiest data plan because you pay per minute.
tmobile now has $19.99 upgrade which gves you unlimited internet. however its only at approximately dial up speeds.

verizon and sprintpcs are both not GSM which means you dont get cool bluetooth phones, however they have the best mobile internet speeds.
