So my girlfriend is visiting her family in Arizona. She took her phone with her so we could stay in touch.. free mobile to mobile and all that.

However, we're nervous because her phone now says Cingular instead of T-Mobile.

Looking at the map of coverage for the town she's in, it says she should have "Fair" coverage at her address, and it's pretty far away from the "Roaming" shaded areas...

Are they going to rape us? :(

Girlfriend!!!
Is this the same one that broke up with you to make amends with her long lost father?

I didn't think t-mobile even had roaming. I was in CA just a couple of weeks ago, and my phone worked fine.

Around the area I live, my phone will switch over to Cingular, it went to AT&T before the merge. I believe it will work fine, your jut using another digital tower.

Maybe want to call t-mobile quick to ask them though, they would know best.

Most likely a sharing agreement for that area which means she will still be charged as if still on T-Mobile Network.

Enjoy

No, it should be fine. Same thing happened to me when I went to visit my ex in Arizona two years ago. However, to be SUPER sure, why dont you call TMOBILE and ask? That way, if you do get charge, at least you can fight it because you called TMOBILE first.

Yes. We're working through things like adults. :)

That's where she is right now. Hence the question.

And yeah, I know I should just call tmobile.. but, that's what OT is for, right? ;)

You'll be fine.

In general with T-Mobile if your phone works you're OK.

There are a couple things you need to be aware of:

1) When roaming your unlimited mobile to mobile & off peak times do NOT apply.
2) If you're up near the Canadian border & you pick up a Canadian cell tower international roaming is NOT free.

So you can use your phone, the minutes will just come out of your regular peak minutes.

If you plan to do a lot of talking (ie you really need the M2M minutes) have her do a manual network selection & see if she can manually select the T-Mobile network. If the coverage map says you should have coverage the network is probably there, phones don't always do the greatest job in selecting the ideal network.

tmobile will NOT charge you roaming anywhere inside the united states. just use it like it is on tmo network.
