I'm one of the new t-mo users. had gone without a cell phone for around 7 years and decided to get and after that att/t-mo merger fell through and t-mo got the $4b windfall (who in their right mind would guarantee a $4b payout if a merger fails?) I decided to go with t-mo and I would get an employee discount with att.

T-Mobile is amazing. I was just in a store last night.

Like many, I have the $70 a month unlimited, unthrottled, LTE, data, text, and minutes.

- no contracts

- 2.5B of tethering built-in for free - no more dicking around with WiFi Tether for Root Users and User Agent switching

- I had no idea that I could add unlimited data to a tablet for SO CHEAP! If I want 300MB of data with a 300MB cap, it is actually FREE if you already have the $70 a month plan. If you want 500MB of full speed data and then UNLIMITED throttled data it's only $10 a month extra. That's what I did. I use the tablet only for reading and GoogleMaps anyway.

This is exactly what should be happening.

A person who doesn't have a t-mobile phone plan can still get 200 MB/month free (for the life of the device) with Tablets unleashed program. This applies to bring your own tablet as well. No contract required.

Calling it “Tablets Un-leashed,” the company said that customers who buy a tablet through T-Mobile will receive 200 megabytes of free 4G LTE data every month for as long as they own the tablet. The program is open to anyone with a T-Mobile-compatible tablet, even if you’re not a T-Mobile customer.

Just to be clear for customers without a tmobile cell plan
- BOY Tablet - free 200 mb of data
- Finance Tablet through tmobile - you're required to hop onto the 20/month data plan. You'll end up with 500MB (20/month) + 200 MB (free) of un-throttled data and then throttled after it's used up.

I hear that some customers have to pay $20 a month to get their free data, is this true?

Anyone who brings an eligible tablet to T-Mobile or purchases a new tablet outright is entitled to 200 MB of free 4G LTE data every month, regardless if they’re a current customer or not.

Well-qualified customers with an existing T-Mobile line of service are also entitled to interest free financing in addition to the free data.

Customers who don’t currently have a line of service with T-Mobile and want interest free financing on the purchase of a new tablet will be required to pay a minimum $20 a month for 500MB of data. This monthly rate plan charge is not connected to the free data, rather it is a requirement of the financing package.

I like my windows phone 8. It'll play mp4 files and stream Netflix just fine. The one thing you will notice moving form android, though, is that there is still a meaningful difference in the level of app development between the two. There aren't as many apps on windows phone, new services come out for android a good while before they do for WP, and the apps that are there are not always as well maintained as they are for other platforms. I would argue that the well-integrated stuff, though, works better on WP than any other platform, even on low-end devices.

Are there any ~8in tablets that work on TMO's network I could pick up? I have the full 70/month pla, so adding a tablet should be stupidly easy if I can find one I like.

No credit check my ass.

It sure seem like TMo just did a soft pull when I tried to refill for a 2nd month online using a credit card that I've been using for years.

Ended up going cheap this time around. I dont really use the phone for much more than talking, texting, Pandora when working out, and wikipedia. I grabbed a Samsung SGH-T399. I didnt think having a smaller phone than the S3 would be desireable. But it is actually nice not having a clunker in my pocket. So far it seems like the battery life is a lot better as well. And it feels more snappy in the interface. Which were complaints I had with the S3.
