First off, let me say that I hate sprint. 2nd, this is also possible with At&t T616 phone, but I don't know their plans

I was searching around for a new phone and fell across this at @mazon. This was pretty much the same or better than I could get from Sprints' retention program (not to mention having to put up with the worst CS ever). I'll leave the linking up to someone else since I'm not all that familiar with the rules.

Click on the electronics tab at the top. Select cell phones from the drop down menu on the left column. Select Today's deal on the menu bar underneath the top tabs on the right hand side. From there you'll find a link that will give you a promotional code (is this postable?).

Details:
Phone: Sony Ericsson T610 bluetooth/camera phone

The T610 features a high-resolution screen with 65,536 colors
Comes with MMS, which allows you to compose your messages using images, sounds and text
Supports the Java and Mophun platforms, making the widest range of mobile games and applications available for you to download
Supporting Bluetooth, infrared and cable, the T610 is fully compatible with any computer. Your phone books and calendars will stay synchronized and updated
With a built-in camera and QuickShare software, you take pictures and store them on your computer or send them to friends all in a few simple steps
Unit Weight: 3.35 oz.
Size (in inches): 1.73 x 4.02 x 0.75

Headset Features (Jabra FreeSpeak Bluetooth headset):
Headset works with most bluetooth phones (however, it does not work with Nokia 3650)
Hands free, cord free headset
Works up to 30 feet away from phone
An answer/end button supports voice activation
Lightweight headset weighs less than an ounce
Unit Weight: 1.0 oz.
Size (in inches): 1.34 x 4.25 x 1.63

Plan (check your area for availability--I called their CS to confirm what I could get. You'll probably be able to get a better plan if you live in a larger metro area b/c of competition--This is better than their current plan of 600 anytime + unlimited N&W for $39.99):

1000 anytime minutes, Unlimited N&W starting at 9pm, Itemized Bill, Conference Calling, Free Nationwide Long Distance on Included Minutes, Free Digital Roaming on Included Minutes, Caller ID, Call Waiting, Enhanced VoiceMail
($35 activation)

Available for an extra charge:
You will get to add any of the following service options after you have chosen this service plan + phone bundle.
? T-Mobile Unlimited Data (info)
Price per month: $19.99 ? 300 Text Messages (info)
Price per month: $2.99
? Equipment Protection by Asurion (info)
Price per month: $3.99 ? Unlimited Mobile to Mobile minutes (info)
Price per month: $6.99
? Picture Messaging (info)
Price per month: $4.99

Tis good enough for me to get away from Sprint!

according to recent threads, you get free gprs access to the internet with your plan. So, you dont need any data plan to access your email because it is free!

I have a nokia 3650 and love it. I dont have any experience with the ericsson but the nokia is awesome.. I highly recommend it. T-Mobile has the best national rate plans IMO.

Be careful buying a phone before the number portability date. I would hold off till then if I could.

I'm pretty sure the tmobile 1000 anytime + nights and weekends is only good for LA and Cincinnati. Any they might be ending the LA one soon.

i know most companies will charge a fee for number portability but is that one time free of monthly recurring fee? I also heard that t-mobile wont charge customers for bringing their phone numbers from other companies?

So do I have to pay extra every month to be able to send pictures from the phone or not?

And is it to any e-mail address or just to other cell phones?

if you dont pay any extra, you should be able to send/receive pop3 email from your phone. you can send to other phones if you know their internet email address and bypass any per msg text message charge.

POP3 can handle attachments, so do you mean that if I just get a $40/month plan I'll be able to send pictures from the phone w/out paying any extra?

Looks like there's a run on that model of phone...first time through the checkout, it said it'd ship tomorrow. An error came back on the final submittal. When I reentered the order, shipping was pushed back to the weekend. That went through, but their order-status page said both orders had gone through...despite the error page saying that the order had not gone through. (Shipping date on both orders was 15-16 Nov.)

I killed both orders (to be safe) and entered it a third time...this time, it warned that this was a duplicate order even though both previous orders had been deleted. Accepting it and going through to the order-status page shows just one order.

My inbox has three orders and two cancellations in it...hopefully they'll get everything straightened out. Fixing their order system would also seem to be a Good Idea. I haven't had problems ordering from Amazon before...don't know what their major malfunction was this time.

FWIW, rate-plan options in Las Vegas for ~$40 are 600 minutes with unlimited evening airtime, 600 minutes with unlimited weekend airtime, or 1000 minutes.

I'm not sure if this would work or not....

but I'm pretty sure you can call tmobile CS and just tell them that you're going to be moving soon to the LA area and would like to change plans (might need a fake LA address). Then add the 1000 minute/unlim N&W. Then just call them back later and tell them that you need to change your address again because you're not moving.

Not quite sure if they require you to get an LA phone #.

My brother just got this, he gets PAID $100 after 2 rebates, free t610 phone, free bluetooth headset (can be sold on ebay for another $60), 1000 minutes, free gprs with wap, email, and picture (through your own email).

Also, if you are already with tmobile and want this phone, just call and get their retention department, it won't be free but you can get it at a discount.

Novon, I checked with T-Mobile. With the discount, it's still cheaper to just start a new contract since a new upgrade will require a contract extension anywho. I was quoted 179.99 for the upgrade and year extensionand I have the 600 anytime plan n/w included.

I called Cust service yesterday, and they said that they don't plan on offering the deal in the Phoenix metro area.

Novon, did your brother get the plan for the Seattle area?

I don't know if this is possible, but I'll call up a CSR today and ask if I can transfer my number between contracts. Curious if it will work.

You can now make $100 on the T610 after rebates. The current $100 rebate from T-Mobile ends today though...same goes for the free bluetooth headset.

Who knows...they may offer the same rebates again next month or they may even increase them.

Anyhow, I just went for it and switched over from Sprint...I hope the coverage is good and I hope I don't regret giving up my Sprint plan...
