Ok, here's something else I don't understand.

Look at the screenshots for this applicatiotn:

Now... I don't understand the design. Why is it popular, or considered attractive to have applications with words that don't fit fully on the screen. Deekfit Gym is the name of the application. At the top of the screen it is written in a font so large that you have to scroll multiple screens in order to view it all. Why not just make a smaller font? This is a common theme in the phones UI design and I just don't 'get' it?

Its supposed to give you a sense of a panoramic view. Some apps implement the effect better than others. I think if done right, it looks pretty cool.

I think the panoramic view would look even better on a 10" sized tablet.

My surround has 16gb internally, which I store a lot of music on, and it locally caches my office docs and pics. I can also stream music from the Zune service.

OK, are you able to stream things randomly? One of the things i like about the Zune Software on PC is that I can create a DJ Mix (or whatever it is called) that will find a bunch of songs from both my library and the cloud that work with the original song. I can't figure out how to do that on my Surround.

WP7 doesn't have on-device SmartDJ yet. I'm really hoping that comes in the January update - that's my favorite feature on my ZuneHD, and one thing I really do miss on my Focus.

No, I don't believe it's available from the phone UI yet. My understanding is they are cleaning up the marketplace a lot in the january update, so that may include it. I do miss the "genius" feature from my iPhone. I've also been annoyed you can't drag your finger where in the song timeline you want it to play. You have to hold down the forward button.

I do like that I can download entire albums for free (tap and hold on a song or album, let the menu come up, and then select 'download'). You can also buy the songs with either cash or your monthly Zune credits.

Yea, the lack of scrubbing is driving me up the wall. It fast forwards well, and quickly, but scrubbing is a bit better.

Also, where the hell is my landscape support? The phone has a bloody kickstand, so it just looks extra-special lame when the song information is sideways.

I would not say its counterintuitive. They are trying something different and if you've been using Android or iOS for the past couple years it may take some getting used to. In the end it could be better and we may see others copying their style in the future.

But I never get anything new in the first year cuz it always need polishing if not outright fixing, and windows phone 7 is no exception.

It is baffling to me how they managed to not just directly port the entire Zune HD as the Zune player. How can it be missing so many features when the platforms are so similar?

I want my Audiobooks on my phone. Right meow.
