ATT will obviously kill this. The pricing is much lower than anything that they offer, and they don't even have an unlimited data plan themselves! Why would they allow old T-Mobile customers to have something that their own customers don't have? That wouldn't go over well at all.

ATT has no obligation to keep this plan going once they acquire T-Mobile. It's a no contract plan.

If I remember correctly, when Cingular bought AT&T, the prepaid packages from AT&T were better, and not only they let us keep the old plan, they ended up merging the two and created new prepaid packages that are more similar to AT&T's plans.

Not saying that this is what's going to happen, but something like this has happened before.

Let's see. They can keep the plan and keep making money. Or cancel it and watch thousands of customers leave.

This ought to be interesting. I'm on Flexpay with Tmobile, with the "Everything More Plus" plan, with unlimited voice minutes, unlimited texts (which I don't use), and supposedly, "unlimited" data. I originally went to this plan, because I was on a 1000-minute plan, and I was exceeding that monthly (at a cost of $0.20/min excess).
Except the price of my plan is $79.99, but they gave me a $10 discount on the data part of the plan, because I have an older non-smartphone (but it can still tether via USB, which I may try some day.) It's not a 3G phone, nevermind 4G.

I was told by a TMobile rep at a corporate store, that they have discontinued FlexPay plans, so that if I were to switch to pre-paid, I couldn't switch back.

Maybe thats the idea, lol.

Does anyone with T-Mo know of my chances of making them upgrade my G2 to a G2x when it comes out? I'm going to have to warranty replace this thing in the next few months as theres so much dust under the screen its become visibly annoying. Also add in a loose hinge and battery cover. I've been with them for 10+ years so I might be able to pull that card.

But the people on this plan have unlocked GSM phones. Where are they going to leave to?

Their choice will be to sign up for one of AT&T's plans and keep their phone, or else buy a new phone on another carrier.

This is now live. It'll show up in your account options now, but likely direct you to call to switch if it even processes online at all. The CSR's are generally clueless and try to direct you to the $79.99 plan, but after a little nudging they'll go "Oh... wow, that's new! That's a great deal!"

As an aside, it may not actually be all that great a deal in the long run. T-Mo has been offering a prepaid plan identical to this for several months now - unlimited talk/text 2gb data for $70. Go to callingmart, pick up a refill for 10% off, you'll be paying $63/month including taxes and fees. I have the gut feeling that with the postpaid $59.99 plan, it might actually end up being a bit more than $63/month.
