I just got an Open Box BioStar T-Force 550 SE from NewEgg (a replacement for an old T-Force 550 that I accidentally destroyed by knocking off a capacitor). All seems to be working with the exception of the onboard audio.

I just want to use headphones for the moment (which work when plugged into my laptop), which I figured I could do just by plugging them into the line-out jack. Unfortunately, I get no audio when doing that. I also experimented by plugging my headphones into each jack and got no audio nor any sound whatsoever (not even the crackling one sometimes hears when jiggling audio cables connected to live sound ports).

I tried uninstalling any potentially conflicting drivers, including my old SB Live! drivers and even the drivers for a Bluetooth USB adapter. I've tried both the audio drivers from Biostar's website (which are version 1.69) and the latest drivers from RealTek's site, 1.80. When I received the board there were jumpers over the JAUDIOF1 (front panel audio header) block pins 5-6 & 9-10; removing those jumpers made no difference.

The RealTek High Definition Audio Device is the only selectable in the Sound & Multimedia area of the Control Panel. In the Sound, Video, & Game Controller area of the Device Manager I have: Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, LEgacy Video Capture Devices, Meida Control Devices, Relatek High Deifnition Audio, and Video Codecs. Potentially interesting is that in the volume control panel, the only active selections are Master Volume, Wave, SW Synth, SPDIF, and CD Volume; Front, Rear, Subwoofer, Center, and Side are greyed out. In the RealTek Control Panel I can control the volume & balance for each of these.

Those are the steps I tried so far. I'm looking for other diagnostic suggestions; at this point, I'm worried that the onboard audio is dead. (I can't return the board because it's beyond the return period for open box merchandise & I'm living abroad and had a friend bring it from America.) Thanks in advance for any help.
