I have a t-bred 1700+ overclocked to 2.4ghz (12 x 200)
Abit NF7-S
1gb GEIL Ram (2-3-3-6)
9800 np (410 core, 310 mem)

anyone know whats this equivalent to in todays mainstream systems...

(i.e. A64 2800+, A64 3000+, etc)

I guess im speaking in gaming performance..

From my observations (based on reading far more reviews than can be considered healthy), at gaming it's:

Newcastle 1.8GHz = Barton 2.4GHz = Northwood 3.2GHz

Don't know how a TBred figures into that equation, it's somewhat slower than a Barton, probably equates to around 200MHz difference, but this is just an educated guess (based on reading far too many reviews which I have since forgotten).

As for your video card, it's faster than a 9800 and slower than a 9800XT, so probably somewhere around a 9800 Pro (fairly logical, I assume).

The real-world difference in T-Bred B versus Barton is closer to 80Mhz. I have tested both these chips extensively in UT2004, IL-2, Serious Sam II and other games. I still run both theses chips in my systems at the house. If I crank the T-bred up by a little over 80mhz higher than the Barton, I can beat it every time in framerates.

I cannot attest to the Intel versus Barton, as I have never used a recent model Intel CPU.

R.I.P. T-Bred, but seriously I think the Barton only has a small speed advantage over an equally clocked/configured T-Bred. HardOCP did a nice article on comparing T-Breds and Bartons at equall FSB and multipliers, and the T-Bred looked like it would need about 100MHz extra to equal the Barton in most apps.

Forget A64 vs T-bred, because it gets pretty ugly for the T-Bred :(
