Can one expect a T-bred "A" chip such as the newer XP1700+ to be able to hit the 1.8GHz mark that the T-bred was originally spec'd for? ;)

I recently replaced a 1700 T-Bred "A" with a "B". The "A" chip ran at 1917Mhz very reliably, completed 24 hours of Prime95 without a hiccup. I got the "B" chip because I couldn't hit 2Ghz reliably in my Epox 8K5A2 board, which I can now do comfortably. The "A"'s will OC, just not as high as the "B" chips.

With a stick of Crucial 256 2100, I ran a tbred A 1700 at 154X12.5 on an 8rda. The RAM was holding me back, and I did not feel like taking out my vid card my system to get the 2700 out of it. (I had to relax the timings on the ram to get it to 154) You will definitely get 1.8ghz.

Mine runs at 1.92 GHz stable (1.725V) I have a slow (and quiet!) Panaflo fan though. Last night I opened my window a bit and dropped the temp, I completed a run of 3dMark and Sandra @ 2060 MHz @ 1.85V
edt - I should mention that it is a 1700+

LOL very similar to me. I have a 1700+ Tbred A at 1.9 GHz (11.5 X 166 FSB) in an 8K5A2+. Works great, but I back it down to 11 X 166 (1.83 GHz) just for everyday operation. 2 GHz wasn't stable with this chip, 1.9 was the max stable speed.

I got a 2100+ Tbred B to replace it, now I get to finally try it out this weekend.

Jiffylube, I have my "B" running at 166.7x12.5, 1.675V, for 2083.8Mhz with no problem. It did 24 hours of Prime95 with no errors.

Good luck, and have fun!

I have a TbredA 1800+ that is currently at 200x9.5 on a Chaintech 7NJS Nforce2 board, for a current speed of 1900mhz. I suppose its stable, I had been running my system for 6 days straight before I had to restart (stupid program install), I only did a small amount of gaming at this speed so far (busy with school :( ) but its lookin pretty stable to me.

Im cooling with a Coolermaster HHC-001 [heatpipes], and my 7NJS is showing the cpu temp in Windows at INTERNALLY 58-62c. I have 1.85v running through it.
