needed:
gaming machine

option 1:
T-Bird 800Mhz @ 800Mhz on KT133 mobo

option 2:
Duron 800Mhz @ 800Mhz on KT133A mobo

note:
well the t-bird certainly has more cache but the kt133a chipset has better memory scores on average i heard... so which choice yields better performance? it's either-or, guys... thanks for recommendation!

Will you overclock?

Tbird and Duron @ 800 both uses the 100MHz DDR FSB and you will see NO DIFFERENCE with the 133A.

To be faster, you MUST use 133MHz DDR FSB with the 133A, which means you will have to UNLOCK then overclock the chip.

Basic Answer. If you will UNLOCK then overclock, get the 133A. If you wont, get the 133.

But if you do, then grab the Duron, cuz the difference in price isn't worth the Tbird unless you're doing some hardcore graphics, or audio/video editting or something like that.

At a 800MHz level, I suspect the price difference isnt too huge between the 2 chips? Due to the fact that D800 is usually overpriced compared to the 750/700/650 while the T is generally cheaper since it is a slow Tbird.

If you plan to upgrade further in the line, the 133A will give you a lot more headroom due to the 266MHz FSB support.

get the 133A because AMD chips are currently not planned for over 12.5 multiplier. so in the future you could have 12.5x100, or 12.5x133 (a fabulous overclock that would be!)
big difference
also a duron finds faster bus useful because of the little l2 cache
