T-Bird hits 185 degrees fahrenheit!!!

WOW!!!

One of our computers at work was acting weird so I checked the temp in the BIOS and it was 185 fahrenheit!!!!

The CPU fan bearings were shot and it was barley spinning...

Thats about as hot as I've seen one get (unintentionally). Replaced the fan and it is working just fine... whew!!

Make sure ya put some diff thermal goo on that too....I was working on my gf's computer, and it is a TINY case-I somehow got the IDE cable caught in the fan on the proc, I thought intel was spose to run cooler:Q

I saw some Evercool fan alarm somewhere, connect it between psu connector and fan and its meant to scream at you if the fan stops spinning. Didnt bother with it since a little utility that came with my Gigabyte is supposed to give a warnign message & beep away anyway :)

mine went to 85C (185F) regularly when playing q3 with my tbird 1ghz with stock heatsink+fan and the fan WAS spinning:Q

case closed+no ventilation= ^

that's pretty hot.. I've seen PIII's run fine but a bit unstable without fans running...
but a T-Bird :Q

i bet if the fan was not spinning at all it would be gone now. luckily it was moving SOMETHING for air... whew is right!! :confused:
