Okay all, I read all the posts, I bought the right stuff, now I need some help. My system is as follows:
Abit KT7 (non raid)
T-bird 800, green core, week 35
192 megs of PC 133 (generic, but stable at CAS2 in my old PIII
Hercules GF2 MX at settings
SMZ EZ10/100 NIC
P.O.S. Winmodem (Roadrunner on the way)
SB Awe 64, cause the SB live crackled all the time
Generic CD ROM and CDRW

Now the problem... I built the system, and it runs great at default settings. Temps are great, 36C at idle, and 41C under full load. I have finally gotten the pencil trick to work, and the machine boots and runs absolutely stable at default, and at 850 with default voltage. I am somewhat confused because although the BIOS shows 1.75 volts at CPU setup, the HW monitor shows 1.82 volts, as does MB Monitor 5. Anyways, when I set the multiplier to 9x or 9.5x, I post fine, get the Win98 splash screen, and then the system hangs at my network login screen. I have upped the voltage in increments to the max the bios allows, still nothing beyond the login prompt. At multiplier 10x, the machine will not even post...

I am happy with 850 mhz, but would like to go for more. Any suggestions as to what could be the problem?

All help appreciated.

Yea the voltage thing is really weird. When i set my motherboard to 1.775 volts i read it with MBM it says 1.8. Try the highest possible volt, but you might want to redo that pencil trick. I'm not sure if you did it correctly even tho it worked at 850.
