t-bird 650 wont do more than 780 HELP!!!

if I try to go with 8x mutiplier.The system will only post then freezes but i dont think its tempature cause it says cpu temp is only like 100f. voltage is turned up to 1.85 max on this board
I would like to be able to get at least 830mhz out of it
any suggestions would be greatly apreciated

It runs perfectly stable at 7.5x and fsb at 104

You got unlucky with your chip. Not all Thunderbirds overclock the same.

Considering that the Chrome Orb is worse than the stock retail heatsink that comes with retail TBirds, you may want to upgrade it.
I'm putting a pep66 with a thin delta fan on mine, should be pretty efficient.

BTW: The temp sensor underneath the CPU socket in inaccurate, you're probably running hotter than that.

It's probably not the chip, it's more likely cooling. As Viperoni said, the Chrome Orb sucks for cooling. I would get a PEP66 or PAL6035 (FOP 38/32?) and see if that helps. I doubt its the T-Bird.
