Hmm.. I just upgraded from a PII-350 to an Athlon, so i don't know much about proper temperatures. Maybe you guys could help me out.

I've got a T-bird 1ghz (at 1ghz) on a K7T-Pro2-A and I put a Chrome Orb on it (hoping to keep it really cool). However, my mainboard is running at 80 degrees and CPU is at 120 degrees. Thats just when I boot up and check it in my bios. Is that too hot? If so, what steps should I take to cool it down more? Thanks guys.

that isn't "too hot", but knowing that your MB reads temps quite a bit lower than actual "core" temp is worrying.

especially since the c-orb isn't all that great: Orbs versus Others: Diode versus Socket-Thermistor Testing.

The orb may run acceptably for you, but keep in mind that you shouldn't overclock much, despite what would be an apparent "low-temp change".
