Hello, I'm new and I have a question. I'm planning on upgrading to a T-Bird 1.2Ghz with a 266FSB on an EPoX 8KTA3 mobo. I'm just wondering if I can run that system with PC100 (which I am using now) for a little bit until I buy PC133 ram. Or are the 266FSB CPU's not made to handle PC100 ram?

The cpu can handle it, but the motherboard can't, hehe. The answer is no, you will need PC133 RAM, as the only acceptable ratios for the KT-133A chipset are (FSB:RAM) 100:100, 100:133, 133:133. Get your RAM now though! Prices aren't getting any lower!

But what do those FSB ratios mean? 100:100, 100:133, 133:133? I don't mean to run the Ram for long, probably for only about a month until I can cough up the dough for a 256 stick.

Depending on your current mobo, you might be able to test your ram at 133. If it is via-based athlon board, you can.

Set your fsb at 100, and your ram at host+clk (or something like that, maybe a ratio of 4:3, or just 133), and see if it posts. Then see if it is stable. If not, try finding cas/ras/something settings, and if any are 2, set them to 3. then give it another try.
