T-Bird 1.2 problems

I have just recently acquired a t-bird 1.2ghz proccessor and an abit kt7a-raid mobo. I could not get Win98 or Windows 2000 to install it crashed every time I tried (wich was a lot). After much frustraion I sent the motherboard back and picked up a SOYO K7VTA-B mobo. I had the SAME problem. I have adjusted the core voltages a few points here and there and got it to load windows 2000 but it reboots at random, and I cannot install some software (netgear print server). I also have a new Duron 800, and I can pop it in, in place of the t-bird 1.2ghz with default voltage settings and it works JUST FINE. Now call me crazy but I would rather be running the 1.2t-bird, instead of the Duron 800. The 1.2ghz has done the same thing on two different mobos and I have used several different memory modules. Even tried 2 different power supplies. Have any ideas whats wrong???
