Well, I have the Original Sonic Impact Tripath TA2024 is a 15 W /ch - 8 Ohms 10 W/ch.

I use it for my computer hooked up to a pair of Infinity 1000.1. Sounds great. Better then my Onkoyo - in the living room. Granted I use it for surround sound and it works good for that again, Infinity speakers up front and pair of polks for rear channels.

But I'm almost done making a new room up stairs.... It's going to be the ultimate listening room. I really like how the T-amps sound... I want to upgrade maybe more power. In the listening room there is just going to be a fat ass leather couch and a recliner. The Amp will be connected to a pair of ACI sapphires.

Nominal impedance: 8 ohms, minimum impedance 5.8 ohms, low reactance
Sensitivity: 86db 1 watt/1 meter
Bass-loading: 4th
order, low Q, front ported system
Recommended RMS Power: 20 to 200 watts per channel

Specs of the ACI speakers... I was looking on Ebay for a higher wattage T-amp, has anyone bought a T-amp with higher power?

My questions are...

If I bought a new Amp --- Using a different Chip Like say TA2022 Would it change the sound much? I like the sound of the original.

Could I get away with using the 15 Watt with 86db efficiency speakers?

Thinking about this... http://www.41hz.com/main.aspx?pageID=120

Or this one...

Hopefully someone knows these answers.

Thanks!

I don't know the answer, but here is the place to find out. Very active & friendly audio subforum for ACI, Mike Dzurko (owner of ACI) frequently posts.

PS-I'd like to know the answer too.

Well, thanks maybe I will post in there. Yeah I've spoken with Mike before. But, I doubt too many people are hooking up 1000 dollar speakers to 40 dollar amps, tho, I could be wrong.

I was kinda hoping that someone here had more info on the TA2022 chips or possibly even owned one. I might just have to bite the bullet. My option is to buy another 50 dollar amp, or spend an extra 150 bucks more and get one with better power and I'm leaning in this direction. I've come to the conclusion that speakers are just half the battle. You also need a good amp. It's sad when a 40.00 amp will out perform a 400 onkoyo. Sad and good all at the same time.

Thanks for the reply.
