Ok, so I get a post office postcard in my mailbox yesterday telling me that I have a registered letter. I know I did not buy anything that would come registered and i did not enter any contests.

I start thinking... wth? I dont owe anyone anything that I am not paying... but still think I am gonna find a letter that says I owe eleventy billion dollars and if i dont pay within 30 days i am going to jail.

Today, I open my mailbox and find another PO postcard. This one is for a package. I did not order anything!!!!

so, today i go to the post office to get it. lines are out the door. i stand in line for almost 40 minutes. Go to the counter, hand over the postcard and what do i get back?

A CD disk.

From SystemTweak. From India. I check that it is addressed to the right person. It is. I open the little cover and find a booklet: Easy Guide ToYour Latest Computer Problems. Exclusively For SysTweak Customers. There is also a disk. Full Versions of 11 Top Rated Software For FREE! with 11 Software Keys!!

Why would they send me this? Anyone else get anything like this? Why would they send it registered?

Wonder what is in the package that I have to go and get on Tuesday.

Weird.
🙂

EDIT: Just went to their SITE and found what they sent me. Middle right hand side of the page. Still... I never sent off for it.
😕

Update: OK... I think I know what it is... not sure, but i think so.

In 1998, I purchased a little piece of software called Memory Zipper . It was written by a little girl in college in India. She had it on the internet for like $7.99 at the time. She had gotten a few reviews and all of them said it was cool software, so I bought it. Thru a donation type thing (like spybot)

About a year later, my hard drive puked out and I tried to get the software back.... I came to find that she sold it to a bigger company... It was not SysTweak though... Anyway, before they let me download it again, I had to give them my reciept, which i did not have. So, we tried by email address... i did not remember which i used... so i had to give them a list of possible emails that it could have been along with my info.

I guess the software was sold to SysTweak and they kept my info. I wonder why they went to all the trouble to send it registered mail though. And i wonder what is in the package i have to pick up on Tuesday.

😕

Ha. I have already opened it. It was not in an envelope or box or anything. It was just in the cardboard CD sleeve.

I have no put the disk in my system though. If i do, it will be in one of the machines that wont upset me to have it puke out.

Ok... bit the bullet and checked out the CD.

What a total waste.

Filled with trails/demo versions... there are a few free programs, but they are usless.
