I have two USB devices that cannot be reconized by the OS when I plug them in. The issue started happening when I replaced a mobo with a bad memory slot. I may have had these two devices plugged into the front USB panel when I did the upgrade so the only thing I can think of is that something happened to the front USB panel which damaged the devices. The devices themselves detect that they are plugged in and will charge but the OS does not recognize them at all. I can plug in other USB devices such as a USB thumbdrive in and it will work fine.

Devices: iPhone & Cowon D2 mp3 player

I tried:
* All USB ports
* Booting into three OSes: Vista 64bit, XP 32bit, Fedora 64bit
* Used USB cords that work fine with other devices
* Different computers

Thanks for any help.

Since you used different cables and tried on different computers, then yeah, it's pretty obvious: your devices are probably damaged. Take the iPhone into an Apple store and have them plug it in...if it works, great, try more troubleshooting. If not, hopefully you still have warranty time on the iPhone, and extended warranty on the player.

Next time you wanna to major surgery on your machine, unplug everything before opening the case.
