hey ppl,

i've been having this problem ever since i got this system. first, letst start with the specs:
- asus P4C800
- Intel P4 3.0 Ghz Northwood
- Asus 9600 XT
- maxtor 160GB SATA
- Antec SLK3700AMB
- Iiyama vision master 1451 19"

my normal settings are 1280 * 1024, 32bits color and a RR of 85 Hz. this has worked flawless with my old system (a lot less powerfull) and the same display.

the problem i have now is this: in about half of the times i boot my system, the refresh rate jumps back to 60 hz or something, giving me a flickering display. it doesn't happen with every boot, just about half of them. if i then go to the catalyst control center, or the XP display properties, it still says "85Hz". i have to set it to another value, and then back to "85" to actually get it to 85 hz again.

doens;t anybody know what this is, or what's causing it?..

thanks!

i use the latest ATI drivers, including the AT control centre, but this problem has been going on with different drivers.

i dunno if this will fix anything but did you try switching off the control center so it doesn't boot at start, maybe it's resetting it?

The video card is the culprit - the ATI Contol Center has caused me a few problems as well - I ended up using the old reliable version and they went away. This thread has a detailed rundown on the monitor:

I have found problems with the refresh rate staying after the Control Center is installed. I removed all the ATI drivers and reinstalled the non Control Center version and haven't had a problem since then. My video card is a Sapphire 9600XT.
