I just got my SATA Drive off of a member here, I'm trying to install Windows XP on it but each time it gets to the "Install Fresh Copy Of XP" it says:

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in you computer"

But in BIOS it shows up, only sometimes... I've tried many different settings with the 'SATA controller' for my motherboard. It either gets to the Blue installation screen, or doesnt even make it that far after it says "checking hardware, blah blah blah".

I plugged the drive in with my other Primary HDD, and windows recognized there was new hardware, but it did not show up anywhere. I'm at a loss. The HDD shows up randomly in BIOS. I'm confused. :( Help.

EDIT- I've tried plugging it in my SATA1, SATA2, and my SATAII connectors. No change. :(

EDIT2- About %80 of the time it says "Inspecting your hardware configuration" and just stays on a black screen. The CD spins up like something is loading, but there is nothing on the screen. :( F this.

"windows recognized there was new hardware, but it did not show up anywhere." If you run diskmgmt.msc (from Start menu), does the drive show up, and can you then format it?

What version of XP is the CD? Original or SP1, SP2?

No, it does not show up in Disk Management, I just tried that. It recognizes it, but says "there was a problem installing your new hardware".

EDIT - XP with SP1

EDIT2- WTF. I just installed the SATA Raid Drivers, and NOW it shows up in Disk Management... I'll format it, and then try from there.
