System won't go out of standby....

My system doesn't wake up from standby when a download manager (FlashGet 1.3) is scheduled to download at a set time. Is this a problem with Windows or the software or the PC.

running windows xp.

Prolly windows, might be the manager. I have seen few systems with functional acpi anyway, beyond laptops it seems to be poorly supported. Assuming it works without flashgete, then its obviously flashget but I wouldn't be surprised if its windows/hardware. you can try updating your bios and mobo drivers. Also make sure the "allow this device to prevent..." cleckbox is clean on all relevant devices. Oh and if you have WOL plugged in take it out, unless you _really_ need it, another 'feature' I have NEVER seen work good luck
