Heres what I got. I turn on the machine and the PS fan turns on as well as the processor fan. The HDs turn on and the CD-ROMS turn on. No POST screen. Monitor does not come out of sleep. I took the battery out for about 5 min and put it back in. Still no go. I cant even get to the bios. What could be the possible causes for this?

need Help!!!!

thanks

edit: this happened right after i chaged the bios setting to set the cpu host/pci clock to 133/33Mhz

you have a pentium system? Mine is having about the same problem- P4 1.7G with Intel D850GB motherboard. The CD RW Floppy and HDD seem to come on, but I don't even get the post screen, nothing, just a black screen. Dunno what is up, I can actually get into BIOS by switching a jumper on the motherboard, but it's supposed to do it that way.

A couple of things...my pc has an award bios, and it's set to automatically reset to bios defaults after you power up and then down about 3 times, should you change a setting that refuses to post.

If that doesn't work, look for a "Clear CMOS" jumper on your motherboard. It's location is definitely in the manual, if not obvious by site. Usually, it has a jumper on a 3 pin connector. In normal use, the jumper sits on 2 out of the 3 pins; the pin on one side and the pin in the middle. To clear the cmos, you set the jumper to the pin on the other side and the middle pin for a few minutes, then place it back in it's normal position and reboot.

Other motherboards require you to short out pins in another fashion. Read the manual, as you didn't say which motherboard you had.

thanks for the replys guys....

I have a Athlon tbird 1ghz with a chaintech mobo CT-7AJA0 VIA chipset.

im going to try the clear CMOS jumper right now.

Thanks!!
