System won't boot

Thanks to the cut backs in my company, I am currently taking care of the computers. I have a computer that I have to rebuild but it won't boot. It goes through all the system checks and everything is ok. The computer locks up after it verifies the DMI System pool and tries to boot from the floppy. I get the same problem with the HD too. Can anyone provide any suggestions or tell me what is happening? My thanks and a 6 pack of beer if you can help
 
System specs. would help.....and make sure your bios is set to boot from the C drive first ...but your problem may lie with the hard drive being no good
 
I had the same problem....fixed it by removing all PCI cards and adding them back 1 by 1 until I found the right combination of what card had to go in what slot. My system was fine after that. Hint: It usually helps to leave the slot next to the AGP port free (if it has an AGP port). Also, make sure you have IDE device (or SCSI if you're using a controller card) listed as 1st boot device--not floppy.

rubberneck is right, you are most likely having an IRQ/DMA/resource conflict. Take out all your cards and place them in one by one once you get the OS installed. Good luck
