I just bought an AGP GeForce 7800GS Overclocked card from someone on e*ay.

I put the card in and my system comes on but then does nothing, not even post. No beep. The fan and light is on on the 7800 and I did plug in the power cord on the card.

My system is an Athlon 64 3000+, nForce3-250 mobo and I have a nice 500Watt Rosewill PSU. I use XP but that doesnt really matter since I cant even boot with the card in.

I reset my BIOS setting to failsafe but that didnt help. I had the thought that maybe I could upgrade the nForce BIOS, but I dont know if that would do much.

So the card looks and sounds like its working just fine, but my system doesnt boot. Are there any known issues with this hardware combination that I should know about?

Please help

I have 6800gt on Nforce 3-250 as well. but no problem like that at all. a64 3200+ with antec psu.

hmm.

so this only happens with 7800? did you have a different card in it before?

no post indicates that its not a driver or even bios.

test the card on differnt computer or different card on this mobo.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that the 7800 just doesnt work. My computer doesnt even start the post test. Its just power on and then NOTHING.

I cant really try it in my other system since the PSU is so weak. I guess I will try it anyway.

definatly test it on a different pc or test another card on your computer.

it should at least boot even with weak psu. (if need be disconnect everything else. hdd, cd rom, etc etc.)

good luck.

wonder if there is anything e bay can do ? if the seller would take it back, even better.

I wish there was a better way to correct this sort of thing...
