Girl in next cube got a message on screen about system being infected with W32-RPC virus, but I don't think it came from Norton Antivirus we have installed. She clicked the pop-up and when she subsequently declined to download some file, the machine hosed. WinXP Home comes up in boot menu, but no matter what I choose (Normal, Safe Mode, Last Known...) it always reboots within seconds and comes back to screen. Any idea what's going on?

Well, duh. Not helpful. Is it known whether this pop-up screws the pooch regarding hard drive?

Interesting side note: ran System Setup and it has a basic diagnostic tool to test IDE drive. Get "Completion Code 7 Dirve Replacement Recommended"

Interesting update: Turns out XP and PCAnywhere 10.5 have a compatibility problem that appears in somewhat rare cases. If CHKDSK is set to autorun at boot (bad shutdown or intentional), Gernuwa.sys causes system to constantly reboot. Here's KB entry: FUBAR
