So I decided to bring an old Athlon 1ghz out of retirement to load Windows SBS on to play around with. It's pretty noisy so I ordered a few things to keep the noise down, including THIS HSF. When I plugged it into my Abit KT7A mobo the system would power up for about 3 seconds, give a long beep and shut down. Seemed like the bios wasn't sensing the fan to me, so I put the stock hsf back on and it booted fine. The board has 2 CPU fan headers so I put the new one back on and tried the other header, same problem. Decided to put the stock hsf back on and rma the new one. Now, however, the system won't boot anymore with the stock hsf. When I power it up I get no beeps, the HD led stays lit but there's no hd activity, and nothing on the monitor. I hooked up my diagnostic card and get post code C1. Some time on Google shows that this code can mean many things, and that some people have received this code when the cpu fan is bad.
Anyone have an idea of something I can try to get this board working again? I'm fresh out of ideas. I've tried a different psu, different RAM, removed everything but 1 stick of ram and video card, clear CMOS, etc.
