Well, I built a new computer (see my earlier thread HERE) on Friday and all was going great until a little while ago when I went back and tried to boot it up as I've done numberous times over the last two days. It just doesn't want to POST now. The fans are turning on, the power LED is on, and I can hear the hard drive spinning up, but that's it. No initial beep or the ensuing hard disk activity. Monitor stays in standby.

So far I've tried the following:
- checked all connections - everything looks fine.
- removed memory, disconnected hard drive, and tried to boot again.
- set the jumper to clear the CMOS and booted, then removed it and booted again.
No change.

The thing was working fine before. Only glitch I noticed was a wavy pattern in the video after installing the included drivers, which was alleviated by running the auto-setup on the LCD monitor it was connected to.

Looking around I am seeing other similar complaints regarding this board. I haven't had a chance to talk to NewEgg yet, but what do you guys think? Would I be better off switching to an MSI, Foxcon, or Asus 6150 board or try to get another of what I've got?

Thanks in advance. :disgust:

You do need 1 stick of RAM, as well as cpu, and video if you have addon to post. No other external stuff, including USB, Firewire. And did you install video drivers before the messup?

Yup, had the whole thing up and running. Windows was installed with all drivers. I had a USB wireless NIC installed which I unplugged when the problem started, but it made no difference. With the memory out I was hoping I would at least get a couple beeps from the motherboard to say "Hey idiot, where's the RAM?" but no such luck. CPU was mounted and working nicely. I'd done a little stress-testing the day before to see if the cooling was adequate and it never passed 35 degrees celcius. Video is integrated on these boards so not much I can do there unfortunately, and I don't have any PCI-e video cards so I can't plug one in to override the on-board either.

Hard to say whats wrong based on your experience... sounds like the board just flaked out on you somhow... if returning it is an option, thats what I'd suggest & replace it with either an MSI or Asus.
