Hi,
I have an Athlon 7** w/ an Abit KA7-ultra100 MOBO. There are two HDD in the system. One is an IBM 15gig ULTRA-ATA/100 DTLA307015 and a basic WD 20gig. The Abit KA7-ultra100 support up to 8 IDE drives. Four IDE drivers connect to the basic IDE ports, while the other *ATA/100* connect to the four addition IDE port. The IBM HDD support up ATA/100. When I connect the IBM (master)+ WD (slave) into *ATA/100* IDE port 1&2, WIn2k boots up flawlessly. However, that is only true if I power down and boot back up. If I restart the system, Highpoint BIOS only recognizes the WD HDD and not the IBM. The pins are set correctly on both drive: IBM = Master; WD=Slave.
Is this a hardware problem like one of the HDD is not *ATA/100* compatible? Is this a MOBO problem like something on the BIOS is not correct? Is this a Win2k problem, which I doubt?
Please post, especially if you have a similar configuration. Thanks
Zir
