System Utilities...........

Well I will try this in this here forum. I had posted it in another and got no response. I have several system utility programs, Tweak XP Pro, Ace Utilities, Advanced System Optimizer, Mindsoft Utilities XP 7.5, and XP Smoker. A few of them have registery cleaners. The Ace Utilities registry cleaner seems to be a pretty safe one. Able to delete entries that are truely invalid and ignoring anything that is still needed. But after running the ace registery cleaner, I restarted the computer and ran Tweak XP Pro registry cleaner and it found 300+ bad entries. With so many of these type of utility programs which one is truely worth using and trustworthy. All of them claim to optimize your system, but do they really work? Which one optimizes the best? Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Jay

IMO none of them. I don't use them for the reasons you imply. One finds nothing, the other 300+ items. Forget it, my system has been running fine without using these tools, so I'll pass.

Same here... there are too many people out there trying to make a buck by finding "problems" to fix, where no problem existed to begin with.

If it ain't broke.... don't fix it! :D

I can't tell you how many times i've heard people use those programs to "fix" things, then magically certain programs no longer run.

I don't believe any of those programs do anything more than a placebo feeling of "i think it's fixing my computer" when it's really not.

Steer clear of them, unless you like making software companies rich. :)

. Unfortunately there is no ONE TRUE UTILITY...
. One of the best of the registry fixers comes with VCom's (www.v-com.com) FixIt or SystemSuite utility packages. It categorizes what it finds into Green Yellow and Red groups - Green is safe to remove and so forth. This tool always gets top marks in comparative reviews.
