Got a question, I plan on going with 4 hard drives on a RAID Array Configuration 0 Stripe. If I get a motherboard with onboard Raid, Is it a good idea to place 2 hard drives each on 1 channel, since there are only 2 channels to plug into? Or should I go with a RAID card, thing is, I have a RAID card that supports up to 4 hard drives currently, but for some reason It never worked! (Performance wise) I got far better results with my Onboard raid setup....... Infact my raid card only performed the same as a 1 Hard drive setup....

What kind of external RAID card did you have? Some of the fancier IDE RAID cards are designed for 64 bit 66MHz PCI busses, and even though they wouldn't normally saturate a 32bit/33MHz bus they still loose some performance when run in that fasion.

Had the Promise Fastrak TX4 Raid card. For the ATA 100 series drives. Next upgrade hopefully some new faster SATA hard drives will be around If not then onto the fastest ATA/133 drives out on the market I can get ahold of.......
