System upgrade I'm considering...

Going from:
Asus A7V
Duron 750
Radeon LE

To:
Shuttle AK35GTR
Athlon XP 1700+
Radeon 8500

I know that the difference would be noticeable, but is it worth the money? 🙂

Well, it's kind of tough to do a video card upgrade at this moment because a GF3 (dunno about R8500 but I think that the same thing would happen) on a KT133 platform decreases performance, so you need a mobo and CPU upgrade to unlock the full potential of a GF3/R8500 so, is it worth the money, well if you're a huge gamer, yep!

Well the mobo/cpu upgrade is my first priority, but I'd probably wait for the price drops from the next round of video cards before I'd upgrade that part, so I wouldn't be on a KT133, but a KT266A by that time 🙂

IMO, I agree get the mobo and cpu upgrade now and wait on the vid cards...I think the 8500 is a bit high...With the GF4's coming out maybe this will drive down the ati card especially if the gf4 is a lot faster then the radeon...Recent tests seem to show the radeon is better then the gf3 ti500's. So Ati wont make much of a move unless Nvidia's latest offerring is a much better improvement.

The only problem that I have right now is that the Shuttle will probably fall in price in 2-3 weeks as well, considering how new it is.

Another option is buying a TBird 1.3 and keeping all the stuff I have now...but that's option #2.

I haven't thought about n415 yet, mainly because it's not out...maybe if some reviews show up before I buy then I'll see. 😛

Edit:
Some cooling recommendations would be nice too...I'm thinking a GW CAKII-38 right now.
