Upgraded my daughter over the weekend.
She had:

3800 X2
3850 512MB (AGP)
MSI Platinum
4GB RAM

Her 3DMark scores were:

2000 - 16575
2001SE - 22753
2003 - 26735
2005 - 10435
2006 - 6883

She now has:

PhII 940
4870 1GB
Gigabyte MA790X
4GB RAM

Her 3DMark scores are:

2000 - 29585
2001SE - 40153
2003 - 47479
2005 - 18440
2006 - 14355

She now has a Blueray player in her system. I used the Cyberlink software that came with her player and played the Blueray version of Transformers. This was my first time watching a Blueray movie, I was expecting the movie to fill the screen more than it did.
Her monitor is a Samsung 260HD, is it better to watch computer played Blueray over HDMI or DVI?

I thought Blueray downgraded the resolution if you didn't use HDCP through HDMI to view them. That may be why it was displayed smaller than you expected.

From what I've read HDCP can be implimented over HDMI or DVI. Since HDMI is achieved with a DVI to HDMI adapter on the 4870 card doesn't that mean that HDCP has been implemented on the 4870 DVI connections?

Just for clarification the Samsung 260HD is running at 1920x1200.

Most blu-rays these days are in 2.35:1, and you're watching it on a monitor that is 1.6:1. On a TV the black bars would be a tiny bit thinner, but not by much.

Philips demoed a 2.35:1 TV, but I doubt it will make it to the US. We're stuck with letterboxing on widescreen displays forever, I'm afraid.
