I Have an older Gigabyte GAIEXP (845 chipset) board with a P4 2.66@3.00 (150 fsb)

Well Initially i had an older CorsairXMS 512mb that i had for the last 2 years or so.Ran stable at a meager 150fsb at 2-6-2-2 at my older 845 mobo. No problem there.

Then decided to get those PRO XMS types...You know the one with the running LED lights.

Placed them both and i cant get the same timings (2-6-2-2) if they are running together. I sometimes cant even get to windows or if i did its restarts galore...I have to basically run the cpu at stock.Even relaxing the timings dont help (2.5-6-3-3)....Individually, they run overclocked and maxed latencies no probs.

Did saw them at CPU-Z...The PRO shows on the SPD timings table as one column, whereas the older XMS shows as two columns (hey i dont know if that makes sense....but please help me out):)

Basically i assumed 150 fsb at 2-6-2-2 with this type of RAM, even if they were not related would be peanuts, since the memory are rated to go higher.

I tried upping the voltages of the RAM, CPU and even the AGP card and still no ideas how to go about it.

If its anything, i did try to pair the older RAM with a 256 mb SAMSUNG and it worked flawless no problems at overclocked settings and lower latencies.Only with the newer corsair.

LMK and thanks in advance.

BTW if its one thing, which RAM would i need to keep (of the corsairs) and try to pair with?

Hey thanks for the reply:)

Voltages on the RAM were at 2.8 (maximum allowed on the mobo)

Speedfan measuements on the mobo are:
+3.3@+3.44
+5.0@+5.35
+12@12.22
Vcore is about +0.5 volts over default

Did not try memtest as im sure it will fail.

Any other ideas as i think the voltages are fine.

Can you be more specific about the RAM? Is it PC3200LL? PC3500? PC3200XMS 2.5 CAS?

What's the older RAM and what is the newer RAM called?

Try to disable bank interleaving and see if that helps.

My only advice is to return the RAM. 2.75 Volts is pretty high for a motherboard that limits you to 2.8v. Even so, 2.75Vs for stock operation is high. Do you really need active led lights on your RAM?

Does it work with a 2T command rate? Because I noticed even newegg listing the PC3200C2 as 1T, however does not mention the Pro series in 1T. Which likely means they don't want to advertise that the ram actually has slower timings. You might of just loosened the CAS/RAS/ and TRAS, but forgot about the command rate timing.
