My PC has become infected with the System Tools Trojen. It has wiped me out. I am able to visit some forums and open my web browser. I have my system backed up with O&O Disk Image on an external HDD, but am not able to open GUI. I was wondering, I have a small HDD with a lot of flight sim stuff on it. If I have not clicked on that drive, should it be infected? I am considering reformatting my main HDD and reinstall, but I don't know how to get around not being able to access my back up files. I wwould appreciate any help that you guys can give me. After getting by for over ten years of PC use, this is the first experience thatg I have had with a trojen. Thanks Ted Harris

Actually I think I have it fixed. I got on my wife's laptop and found an expansive tutorial on how to do it. It took me a couple of hours to follow the different methods (most of which wouldn't work for me) however that was taken into consideration. This trojan pretty well blocks opening any kind of files or applications which limits what you can do. I finally searched out the trojan and tried to delete it as directed. I finally had to go to safe mode and was able to delete it. I am running Malwarebytes right now and it appears that it might be fixed. Whew! Thanks for the help.

Follow Malwarebytes by SpyBot Search & Destroy (Run as Administrator) as well as Super Anti-Spyware.
