System suggestions

1. What YOUR PC will be used for
Gaming, mainly.

2. What YOUR budget is
Low as I can go. But my max is 1260.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference.
No preference.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
Yep, got a HDD and case and now a Power Supply. (Corsair 750W)

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
I looked.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
OC'ing.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?
ASAP

I need a system. 🙁 I am in need of the tower components except the above and a monitor. All for 1260 or less.

Will not be buying until Tuesday, as I am not going to have my money until then. (Newegg is withholding)

If you're going with Crossfire 4850's, you should spring for a X38 or X48 chipset motherboard, since they will support Crossfire at X16 speeds while the p45 will only support two cards at X8 speed each. If you're spending that much on GPU's, you might as well get the full benefit.

What do you suggest? My budget is 1269$ and I have these components: Power Supply(750W) - Hard Drive - Case

Could you give me a full list of what you suggest?

Can't buy until tuesday because I got trigger happy and bought..then canceled then got owned. so now I am waiting for my refund. (2-3 business day wait)

The CPU cooler, CPU, DVD, and PSU all look fine to me.

Get 4 gigs of RAM instead of 2, and keep it simple with nice low voltage, high-performance reliable RAM like this:
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231122

If you really like that monitor, that's fine, but you could save 100 bucks by going with this one:
Acer AL2216Wbd Black 22" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor with HDCP support 300 cd/m2 700:1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16824009094

Then you could get this motherboard:
GIGABYTE GA-X48-DS4 LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813128336

and I'd get a ATI 4870 (one to start with would be fine, two would be killer in Crossfire budget allowing). Honestly, one of these will allow you to play any game at very-high to max settings. You could always add a second later if there's a game that you want to play that would benefit from it.

I think all of that stays well within your budget.

Yeah, I just don't want to wait so long for the ATI 4870. 🙁 I'd have to wait at least two weeks.

What happened with that Radeon 4850 combo is that I actually get paid 20$ for buying that ram after rebates. I ended up getting 4x1GB sticks of DDR2 800 Crucial Tracer. That stuff would easily OC to DDR2 1000, heck probably even 1066.

The 4870 is out now, just in limited numbers.

The auto-notify at newegg works, so once you have your credit or refund just sign up for auto-notify on all of the 4870 cards, watch your email and buy the one that gets in stock first. They're all the reference design so they should be identical aside from anything bundled with a specific card.

Yes, I was suspicious of Best Buy. O_O But I guess they are legit? I saw a VisionTek HD 4870 there and I was like, no way this is too early! 😱

But yeah, I am getting a HD 4870 most definitely now. Could you guys give me a round-up of what you think I should get? I need 5.1 because I just got some speakers that support that. Power is not really a problem because I have that 750W corsair PSU. But my budget is 1269$.

I was thinking that I should get the Gigabyte X48 230$ motherboard but I don't know how well it overclocks. Should I get the E7200 instead of the E8400? I'm so confused as to what to do.
