System Suggestions

If I was to spend 500-600$ to purchase parts for a system, everything except for the video card, cd r, monitor, mouse/kb....So, cpu, mobo, ram, case, psu, cooling, memory and HD. I'm not up to date with what is all good at the time, can anyone suggest what the adequate hardware would be considering the budget? Thanks for any help.

Motherboard: Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Memory: 512MB Corsaid PC2700
CPU: Athalon XP 2800+ (2700+ overclocks fairly well and is close to the 2800+ for cheaper)
HD: Seagate 80gig 8mb cache
Case, PSU, Cooling.... (preference for you)

abit nf7-s
1 gig hyperx 3200
2500+
37G raptor
sonata

that probably comes to 650, but it's a damn good setup. you'll be able to get to 3200+ speeds, but then again you'll also have to get decent cooling which will be 30 more. thats the speediest gaming setup you'll get for that price, but of course i assumed you gamed. tell us what you're gonna use the comp for then we can make some better suggestions

Yeh it's going to be used definitely for gaming. I already have a ti4600 to stick in it. Is abit nf7-s NForce? Is that the best chipset to go with now a days, like I said i'm not up to date with what's best at the time. And is 37G raptor SCSI, because I was just gonna plan on going with a Maxtor IDE just to make it cheaper. Thanks for the help, and any more suggestions.
