SYSTEM SPECS:
A64 3000+ venice
MSI NEO2-FIR Refurb Mobo
2gb Corsair Value (2x1)
AIW X800XT
Audigy 2
PVR150
Thermaltake 480W PSU

So I just got this USB wireless adapter and since I switched I seemed to get system hangs during system inactivity. Then I plugged it into my 2405 port and I still get these freezes. During these freezes my Keyboard and USB wireless card both shut off and theres nothing I can do...

What should I check first? I also have 1 hard drive internal, 1 hard drive xternal and 2 DVD drives (one is a burner).

The system hangs now occur much more often....I already ordered an ASRock Mobo because I'm tired of this refurb POS. Anyone think that will solve the problem by any chance?

The basics.

-Use the newest mainboard drivers from nvidia or MSI?
-You use the latest catalyst drivers?
-Is that the TT 480w that only has 18 amps on the +12v? Otherwise, it is a POS.

I probably dont have the latest mainboard or catalysts I guess I'll go there first.

Yes the TT has 18A on the 12V. Is that really bad?

To some, no... To many... yes...
Could be lack of power.
Forton 450w or the Antec NeoHE 500w are good psu recommendations.

I didn't read through the whole other thread. Do you have everything running at stock now?

I've got it OC'd to 2.0GHZ

Have you tried running it at stock?

Haha oddly enough, no! I should do that eh? :D

Might be a good idea :)

Thing is its been running solidly for about 6 months!

Well you don't have to try it if you don't want to, but changing everything back to stock speeds would be easy and that would give you the satisfaction of knowing it's not the problem (or at least not the only problem) if the problems persist.

No no, I definitely will, I'm just outraged that its crashing out. I guess my wanting to switch mobos and rebuilding was a good idea. Hopefully I can get the right PSU and get my ASRock to run a bit better

Thank god for my rock solid IBOOK with 1.5 gigs of ram :) :D

You might want to try memtest anyway. It's easy enough to try and if it turns up problems you might want to test the memory in another comptuer just to make sure it's still ok.

I've had ram go bad on me before, but I don't know any official odds on it.

That PSU is way overkill but would be fine.

If I was spending that much I'd be upgrading to a better Seasonic.

THe problem is that I've seen on Newegg a lot of people getting DOA Seasonics...I DO NOT want to deal with RMAs

I think I might just go with the Enermax Liberty 500.

OR the Antec TruePowerII 550W

In my hunt to stop the madness a while ago I flashed the BIOS but forgot to re-set my BIOS settings. I locked my AGP at 66mhz and then put my RAM timings back and am going to try running this comp today at stock speeds...

Will update later.

Havent done the tests or the driver updates but I DID mess with the BIOS and I thought it was stable, but I thought wrong as it froze on me this morning. I think I'll just wait for the new mobo and run tests on that beast if problems come up. I had been noticing a loud high pitched sound from time to time coming from the PSU so it could possibly be that causing the problems. Either way my ASRock and Enermax Liberty will be here soon. YAY! possibility of cleaning up the inside of my case, getting more clean power, getting a better OC, and gaining the option of running an AGP AND a PCIe card at the same time!!!! Bring on the fun!!

Will update once new components are added into the system.
